Bridge Replacement In Ulster County Over NYS Thruway Is Complete

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Wednesday announced the completion of a bridge replacement in Ulster County.

Cuomo says the $4 million project to replace the Sawkill Road bridge over the New York State Thruway was completed on-time and on-budget. The replacement bridge includes safety upgrades. It features two 11-foot wide travel lanes and six-foot wide left and right shoulders. The former Sawkill Road bridge was constructed along with the original Thruway system in 1953. The replacement bridge has an expected service life of about 75 years without any major maintenance or repair. The bridge sees an average of nearly 9,500 vehicles per day.
