Following a year-long renovation, an outdoor center in Rockland County at Harriman State Park has opened to the public.

The AMC Harriman Outdoor Center on Breakneck Pond opened to the public Friday after a one-year, $2 million renovation. The Appalachian Mountain Club announced last year that has signed an agreement with the Palisades Interstate Park Commission as part of a long-term lease to renovate a former youth camp at this location and operate a new lodge and outdoor program center. The Palisades Interstate Park Commission invested in infrastructure improvements, including restoring utilities and water to the site. The 46,000-acre Harriman State Park is the second-largest park in the New York State Parks system.
