Orange County Legislator To Challenge NYS Senator Larkin

An Orange County legislator is challenging a longtime New York state senator, again.

Democrat Christopher Eachus says he will challenge Republican Bill Larkin for the 39th District Senate seat. Larkin has announced he would seek re-election to a fourteenth term. In 2012, Larkin defeated Eachus by about five percentage points. Eachus, in a released statement announcing his run, says he was outspent 3-to-1 in that election yet still received 48 percent of the vote. The 38th Senate district includes portions of Orange County and two towns each in Rockland and Ulster Counties. Democrat James Skoufis, who in February said he was exploring a potential run for the seat held by Larkin, in late April, said he would instead run for re-election to the Assembly.
