Three NYS Lawmakers Call For Town Supervisor's Resignation

A trio of New York state lawmakers is calling for a town supervisor in Rockland County charged in a corruption probe to resign.

A 22-count indictment issued Thursday names Ramapo Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence and N. Aaron Troodler, the former executive director of the Ramapo Local Development Corporation. They are charged with securities fraud in connection with the financing of Provident Bank Park. Authorities believe they are the first-ever municipal bond-related criminal securities fraud charges against public officials. The Journal News reports that St. Lawrence and the town attorney showed up for work Friday, declining comment on the charges, to which St. Lawrence and Troodler pleaded not guilty. State Senator David Carlucci, an Independent Democrat, and Democratic Assemblymembers Ellen Jaffee and Kenneth Zebrowksi say they are calling for St. Lawrence’s immediate resignation to ensure the Town of Ramapo can operate effectively.
