HV High School Students Win A Grant For Their App

Students from a high school in Westchester County have won a $20,000 grant for their concept for an app to combat hunger.

The Harrison High School students learned Tuesday that they are among the winners of the fourth annual Verizon Innovative App Challenge. The app the students came up with would give consumers a chance to buy a meal for a person who needs it while ordering food for themselves. In addition to winning the grant from the Verizon Foundation for their school, the students will work alongside experts from the Center for Mobile Learning at the MIT Media Lab to turn their idea into a working mobile app. The app will become available for download in Google Play once it is complete.
