Mayor Kennedy Loses Democratic Primary In Newburgh

Mayor Judy Kennedy lost the Democratic Primary election Thursday to challenger Jonathan Jacobson, but she is not giving up the fight of Newburgh, New York.

Jacobson told supporters his victory was one for the whole city.

“Our message of change resonated throughout the city,” he said. “Newburgh has to get its act together… so that we can promote the city,” he said.

Kennedy said she is not giving up and plans to be on the November ballot. She accused Jacobson of playing dirty pool.

She said she will “double down and win an election because the city is at stake.” Kennedy said Jacobson has been “a snake in the grass.”

The third Democratic mayoral candidate, Omari Shakur, came in dead last in the race.
