Police say the wife of an inmate at the Westchester County Jail has been arrested for bringing synthetic marijuana into the jail and possibly sickening several inmates.

Ebony Strange, of White Plains, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of promoting prison contraband.

Police say the 32-year-old Strange brought a substance believed to be synthetic marijuana to her husband, Deron Strange, during a visit on July 19.

County police spokesman Kieran O'Leary says 13 inmates have gotten sick since July 12. He says preliminary testing indicates the overdoses were caused by a form of synthetic marijuana.

Deron Strange is one of six inmates who have been arrested on a charge of promoting prison contraband.

It wasn't clear whether either of the Stranges had an attorney who could comment on their behalf.
