HV Assemblymember Puts Out Women's History Booklet

Wikipedia

A New York assemblymember from the Hudson Valley is celebrating women’s history month with the release of a booklet.

Democratic Assemblymember Didi Barrett has released the second volume of “Women’s History in the Hudson Valley: Ten Stories from Columbia and Dutchess Counties.” It’s a booklet she created in collaboration with the Mid-Hudson Library System. The highlighted women include Sybil Ludington, who, at the age of 16, rode her horse more than 40 miles through the night to alert the Revolutionary War regiments to the approaching British troops. Franny Reese, another woman profiled, in the 1960s led the charge to protect the Hudson River Valley from plans to build a power plant on Storm King Mountain. Copies of the booklet are available at libraries in the Mid-Hudson Library System.
