Former Dutchess County Fair Director Dies

A former longtime director of the Dutchess County Fair has died.

Warren Wigsten died at the age of 88 over the weekend. In addition to directing the Dutchess County Fair, Wigsten had also served as a Town of Pleasant Valley supervisor and member of the Dutchess County Legislature. The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that Wigsten is perhaps most remembered for owning and operating Wigsten Highline Farm. Poughkeepsie Journal archives say that Wigsten, a dairy farmer turned vegetable farmer, first attended the fair at the age of 9. Wigston’s son now runs the family farm, which specializes in heirloom vegetables.
