Job Assistance Center Named For Former Chamber President Opens

There will be a celebratory ribbon cutting Tuesday afternoon in Poughkeepsie after having been postponed because of Monday’s storm. It’s for a center named in honor of the former Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce president.

Charlie North will attend the opening of the center named in his honor – the Charles S. North Employment Assistance & Training Stations on Little Market Street in Poughkeepsie. Nicknamed “Charlie’s EATS,” Hudson River Housing is recognizing North's commitment and contribution to the region with a new program offering an array of employment and training resources as well as life skills classes. North, who retired from the chamber in 2014, will be joined by new President Frank Castella, Jr., who took the helm January 1. The ribbon cutting is at 3 o’clock.
