A heavily-traveled highway in New York is getting a major makeover.

New York State Thruway officials say the New England Thruway, known as I-95, will undergo major rehabilitation including resurfacing and bridge repair as part of a nearly $59 million project encompassing 14 miles of the highway in the Bronx, and in Westchester – in Pelham, New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, Harrison and Rye. The two-year project is under way and expected to conclude in June 2016. Currently, the project is focused on concrete pavement repair and bridge rehabilitation in the New Rochelle area. There will be increased state police presence for the safety of motorists and workers.
