Central Hudson CEO To Retire

The CEO of a Hudson Valley utility has announced his retirement.

Steven Lant, who has served as chief executive officer of Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation, and its parent company, CH Energy Group, since July 2003, will retire October 31 after 34 years of service with the Poughkeepsie-based utility. He will be succeeded by James Laurito, effective November 1. Laurito currently serves as Central Hudson’s president. Lant saw through CH Energy’s merger with Canadian utility Fortis, a deal that closed in June of 2013 amid public controversy. Lant says that with all of the commitments related to the merger having been met, and the winding down of their unregulated businesses nearly complete, he felt the time is right to retire.
