A company in Westchester County is receiving a small business grant.

Bettergy Corporation in Peekskill is receiving $149,000 to develop a low-cost battery that can be used as backup power for medical devices, such as oxygen generators and suction pumps. Democratic Congresswoman Nita Lowey, who announced the grant, says this will help people reliant upon such devices during power outages. Lowey says the funding comes from a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Small Business Innovation Research grant.
