SUNY New Paltz, Ulster County Add Weekend Bus Service

SUNY New Paltz

Bus service in an Ulster County college town is expanding to the weekends.

State University of New York at New Paltz officials joined students, Ulster County officials and community members to announce the start of weekend service on the New Paltz LOOP bus. The new service, which begins August 30, will extend LOOP bus service hours to Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The SUNY New Paltz Student Association voted in May to approve an increase to their student activity fee in part to pay for the weekend LOOP bus service, adding $5 per semester. The Student Association entered into an agreement with Ulster County Area Transit to fund the weekend service, which is expected to cost around $18,500 a year. The college, which already provides fuel for weekday service, committed to providing fuel for the weekend.
