Transitional Home For Veterans Opens In Kingston

A number of elected officials will gather Wednesday afternoon in Ulster County, New York for the opening of a transitional home for veterans. 

Ulster County Executive Mike Hein will announce the opening of the Patriots Project – the county’s only facility for homeless veterans. Hein says Ulster County has from 20-40 homeless veterans at any given time. A house on Wurts Street in Kingston was renovated for the purpose, with the help of many volunteer. In announcing the opening, Hein will hold a ribbon cutting. He is inviting the public to tour the house that the community helped create. Hein will be joined by Congressman Chris Gibson, State Senators William Larkin and Cecilia Tkaczyk, Kingston Mayor Shayne Gallo, Ulster County legislators, veterans and other community members.
