Some homeowners in the lower Hudson Valley are eligible for funding to help block out noise during construction of the new Tappan Zee Bridge.

The New NY Bridge Community Benefits Program is offering eligible private homeowners in Rockland and Westchester Counties up to $30,000 each to install new sound-reducing windows and doors. Fifty-seven homes in Tarrytown, South Nyack and Grand View-on-Hudson that will be subject to construction noise in excess of 51 decibels were determined to be eligible. This latest offer from the Community Benefits Program is in addition to the more than $4 million Tappan Zee Constructors is paying to three local residential complexes in South Nyack and Tarrytown to install noise reducing windows and doors. Officials say 50 decibels is the typical exterior noise level in a quiet urban neighborhood.
