A New York congressman is kicking off his re-election campaign for the 19th district Tuesday night.
Two-term Republican Congressman Chris Gibson officially kicks off his 2014 re-election campaign in Columbia County Tuesday evening, opening the doors to his campaign headquarters in Kinderhook. Gibson’s fundraising efforts have been long underway. In fact, U.S. House Speaker John Boehner headlined a fundraiser for Gibson in August, in Sullivan County. And The Chris Gibson for Congress campaign launched a web video entitled “Our Best Century Yet,” a few weeks before Democrat Sean Eldridge in September announced a campaign for the nomination to run against Gibson. Eldridge is president of Kingston-based Hudson River Ventures and is married to Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes. Gibson’s campaign kickoff and headquarters open house are from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m.
