Westchester May Be Home To A NY Knicks Affiliate Team

There is a plan in the works to bring an affiliate team of the NBA’s New York Knicks to Westchester County. It’s on a county board’s agenda Thursday.

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino says under the proposed plan with The Madison Square Garden Company, the County Center in White Plains would be the home of a Knicks-affiliated NBA Development League team, starting in the fall. The plan is scheduled to be presented to the county’s Board of Acquisition and Contract Thursday and, if approved, the county and MSG would sign a licensing agreement. Astorino, a Republican who is expected to announce a run against Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, says the overall plan is still subject to the final approval of the National Basketball Association. He says all of the county’s costs would be covered.
