Ulster County Legislature Preps For A New Chairperson

In New York, a county legislature in the Hudson Valley is prepared for a new chairperson.

The Ulster County Legislature’s Democratic caucus has voted in favor of Hector Rodriguez for chairman, and Donald Gregorius for majority leader. This after the November elections left the legislature with a Democratic majority, 13-10. Rodriguez, a 10-year legislature member from New Paltz, has served as minority whip twice. He says it is his plan to re-establish the Ulster County Legislature as an equal branch within county government. Gregorius is an 8-year member of the legislature from Woodstock. Rodriguez would succeed Republican Chairwoman Terry Bernardo of Accord. She lost her November race to Democrat Lynn Archer after absentee and affidavit ballots were counted. The full legislature must approve the appointments.
