Three counties in the Hudson Valley will stay in Republican hands.

Incumbent Republican Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino was re-elected to a second term, defeating Democratic New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson. In Rockland County, Republican County Legislator Ed Day beat Democrat David Fried, keeping the county executive post Republican, as it has been for 20 years. Republican County Executive Scott Vanderhoef did not seek a sixth term. In Orange County, the current county executive also did not seek another term. Republican Ed Diana, who is recovering from liver transplant surgery over the weekend, had said earlier this year he would not run. Republican Chester Town Supervisor Steven Neuhaus defeated Democratic County Legislator Roxanne Donnery.
