Alec Baldwin To Host Panel About Indian Point

Actor Alec Baldwin is hosting a panel discussion Friday evening in New York’s Rockland County. The event is presented by the Radiation and Public Health Project. The topic is the Indian Point nuclear power plant.

The panel is called Indian Point Driving Without a License, referring to Indian Point Two’s license having expired September 28. Indian Point 2 will continue to operate until the Nuclear Regulatory Commission renders a decision. Alec Baldwin will lead the discussion about the power available to replace Westchester County-based Indian Point and why the reactor is operating without a license. Panelists include Democratic Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee; Riverkeeper President Paul Gallay; and Executive Director of the Radiation and Public Health Project Joseph Mangano. There will be an announcement about a new project monitoring radiation and tracking disease near Buchanan-based Indian Point. The discussion is at Rockland Community College in Suffern. There is a silent auction and benefit dinner. The license for Indian Point 3 expires in December 2015.
