Port Jervis and PA Police Together For DUI Enforcement

PORT JERVIS – Once again, this year the Eastern Pike Regional Police in Pennsylvania and the Port Jervis City Police will be joining forces as part of the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign from August 16 through September 3.

Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden said the enforcement effort worked last year and this year he expects similar results.

“We are noticing on a positive note that compliance is increasing with designated drivers, but there are still arrests being made during these crackdowns for driving while intoxicated,” Worden said. “Like last year, this year we are going to be deploying roving patrols as well as conducting sobriety checkpoints on both sides of the New York and Pennsylvania border at various locations.”

The bottom line, said Worden, is that they are taking a zero tolerance approach to drunk driving.
