Dutchess County Health Commissioner Is Leaving

In New York, a health commissioner in the Hudson Valley is stepping down.

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro has announced that the county’s health commissioner, Dr. Michael Caldwell, is leaving after nearly nineteen years to pursue other opportunities in public health and health care outside of government. Dr. Caldwell’s resignation is effective June 28. Molinaro has named Dr. Kari Reiber to serve as interim commissioner of health. Dr. Reiber has served for the last ten years as chief medical examiner for the county. There was another health commissioner change in the Hudson Valley earlier this month. In Orange County, Dr. Eli Avila succeeded Dr. Jean Hudson, who retired from her post. Dr. Avila is a former secretary of health for Pennsylvania.
