WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - A New York man accused of making death threats on Facebook against some of the nation's highest-ranking elected officials has pleaded guilty.
Authorities say Lawrence Mulqueen threatened the Democratic leaders of the House and Senate, New York's governor and New York City's mayor, among others. They say he predicted a "dirt nap" for them and wrote, "I cannot wait to start killing the scum." He told the judge Tuesday he never meant to harm anyone. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors agreed to recommend a sentence of 12 to 18 months. Police say they found two illegal rifles and other weapons in his apartment. If he had gone to trial, Mulqueen, of Nanuet in Rockland County, would have faced up to 15 years in prison.
