Ashokan Watershed Conference Looks At Resilience

An annual conference in New York’s Ulster County takes place Saturday. Presenters will speak about how to maintain healthy watershed communities and streams.

The Fourth Annual Ashokan Watershed Conference is called “Designing Resilient Watershed Communities”. One presentation will look at Phoenicia as a case study for how scientists, engineers, state and local government officials, and citizens worked together to help solve a chronic flooding problem in the hamlet. In addition, a speaker from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will explain the changes to the National Flood Insurance Program. The Ashokan Watershed Stream Management Program is holding the conference, in Olivebridge.
