NYS Senator Announces Campaign Finance Reform Legislation

Office of NYS Senator David Carlucci

A New York State Senator who is part of the Independent Democratic Conference will announce the IDC’s campaign finance reform package later this afternoon. The proposals come in the wake of a far-reaching political corruption scandal in the state.

Saying, “we can no longer be held at the mercy of big donors, big dollars, and unregulated special interests running amok in our democratic process”, Senator David Carlucci will outline a plan to clean up corruption and reform the state's democratic process. He will do so this afternoon in his Nanuet office, in Rockland County, joined by Rockland County’s executive assistant district attorney. Carlucci will outline specific proposals he says are needed to fix New York's broken electoral system at every layer of government, including reducing the influence of money in elections.  He will also outline other ideas that will be included in a final package of legislation that he and his Senate colleagues plan to introduce next week. This week, Governor Andrew Cuomo unveiled a Public Trust Act to cut down on public corruption.
