Indian Point Employee Faces Copper Theft Charge

BUCHANAN, N.Y. (AP) — New York State Police have charged a second worker at the Indian Point nuclear power plant with stealing material. They allege 40-year-old Christopher Albea of Dutchess County’s Wappingers Falls stole several thousand pounds of copper worth more than $10,000, and sold it at a scrap yard.

Albea was charged with grand larceny and posted $1,000 bail. His lawyer says he will conduct an investigation into the matter. Albea is due in court Tuesday. The arrest came two weeks after another Indian Point worker, Theodore Kozelka, was charged with stealing $50,000 worth of copper cable and scrap from the nuclear power plant in Westchester County. State Police Major Michael Kopy says they're still working to determine the full scope of what was allegedly stolen.
