The Ballad of the Glad Cafe
The Ballad of the Glad Cafe
The Ballad of the Glad Café
Wed., Jan. 29, 7:30 P.M. at The Other Side, 2011 Genesee St., Utica
On July 22, 2002, "two old hippies," both English and writing teachers, with daughter Molly and later, son Nicholas, possessing a dream and not much more than a dime, started a coffeeshop business in Uptown Utica. It was to offer a feast for tongue, eyes, ears and imaginations, an inclusive, urban place where strangers could become friends face-to-face, a space for the artist and the dreamer in everyone. Well beyond their expectations, they created a community and left a legend. Come and hear them talk about the origins of the Cafe, its major influences, the passion that inspired two teachers to start a business at mid-life!
