Scam Advisory: We have been made aware that an online entity is posing as Joe Donahue to invite authors and other creatives onto our radio shows. The scammers then attempt to charge guests an appearance fee for exposure/publicity.

Local retailers are hoping to make the most of Small Business Saturday.

The Downtown Albany BID will be hosting a #NipperQuest Downtown Albany Scavenger Hunt  and businesses will be offering discounts Saturday.  Lark Street businesses that are part of the Lark Street BID will be touting what they say are great ways to #ShopSmall on Lark Street, including discounts.

The Guilderland Chamber of Commerce will be hosting local home-based businesses in their office at 2050 Western Avenue from 10:00 a.m. -3 p.m. Events are also planned at Stuyvesant Plaza and in the town of Bethlehem.

Dave Lucas is WAMC’s Capital Region Bureau Chief. Born and raised in Albany, he’s been involved in nearly every aspect of local radio since 1981. Before joining WAMC, Dave was a reporter and anchor at WGY in Schenectady. Prior to that he hosted talk shows on WYJB and WROW, including the 1999 series of overnight radio broadcasts tracking the JonBenet Ramsey murder case with a cast of callers and characters from all over the world via the internet. In 2012, Dave received a Communicator Award of Distinction for his WAMC news story "Fail: The NYS Flood Panel," which explores whether the damage from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee could have been prevented or at least curbed. Dave began his radio career as a “morning personality” at WABY in Albany.
