This fall's race for Rensselaer County Executive includes a contentious primary on the Republican side between Deputy Rensselaer County Executive Chris Meyer and state Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin.  Meyer is backed by retiring Republican County Executive Kathy Jimino.

Deputy Rensselaer County Executive Chris Meyer faces a primary challenge against Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin. Last week, Democrat Andrea Smyth kicked off her campaign. Wayne Foy is a candidate on the Green Party line.
