Authorities say a 63-year-old woman found beaten outside a downtown Albany apartment building earlier this month has died from her injuries.

Albany police say Lori Milks of Albany was found around 4:30 a.m. Nov. 5 by officers sent to the South Mall Towers for a report of an assault. Officers say they found Milks with injuries to her head and torso.

Police said Monday that she died at Albany Medical Center. Her name was released Tuesday.

Authorities announced Nov. 7 that 38-year-old Gerard Burks was located near the building and taken into custody. He has been charged with attempted murder. Police say the charges against him will be upgraded.

Burks is being held in the Albany County Jail.
