An Albany Pride flag that was burned outside of the city’s Damien Center is now being investigated as a hate crime by the FBI.
The burned flag was discovered Thursday morning outside of the resource center for people living with HIV/AIDS and it appeared that each individual color was lit on fire. In a statement on the group’s Facebook page, the Damien Center said “…in the wake of the Orlando tragedy, it is very disheartening to have this happen in our local community.”
Further they say they appreciate all the support that they’ve received and that they are “…thankful to live in a community that will stand up strongly to hate, discrimination, and injustice…”
