State Supreme Court Judge Vito Caruso has picked a District Attorney to investigate a high-profile Schenectady traffic case.

Saratoga County D.A. Karen Heggen has been tapped to review the May 19 confrontation between Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy and Rotterdam motorist Sarah Dingley, allegedly chased down by McCarthy in a wee-hours trek that ended outside a police station after Dingley placed a 9-1-1 call, telling the dispatcher she was being tailed by a drunken individual who identified himself as the Mayor.

Police decided there was no crime and both drivers were let go.  McCarthy had previously worked as an investigator in the Schenectady County D.A.'s office, prompting Robert Carney to ask for the appointment of a special prosecutor.
