New President To Be Inaugurated At Albany Law

Albany Law School’s 18th president and dean will be inaugurated Thursday.

Alicia Ouellette, a 1994 graduate of the state’s oldest law school, will be inaugurated beginning at 4 p.m. Ouellette was named president on July 1, succeeding Penny Andrews, after serving as associate dean for academic affairs and intellectual life. She is also professor of law and professor at Union Graduate College/Mt. Sinai School of Medicine Program in Bioethics.

“We want to see smart students, we want to see students who are determined to succeed, we want to see students who have grit, who understand that law school is a challenge, but they’re ready and willing to take on that challenge,” Oullette said.

The former Editor-in-Chief of the Albany Law Review, Ouellette also worked as an Assistant Solicitor General in the New York State Attorney General’s office.
