Massive Fire At Apartment Complex In Schenectady

Schenectady fire officials are advising people to avoid downtown Schenectady this morning due to a massive fire at an apartment complex. Local area media reports the blaze started around 2 a.m.

The complex is located on Jay Street across from Schenectady City Hall, which is being used as a temporary shelter along with CDTA buses. At least seven people were injured from the fire, several of them seriously, including one man was taken to Albany Medical Center with a broken back after jumping from the fifth floor. Firefighters are also saying one person is unaccounted for. Schenectady City Hall will be closed for today.
