FreshGrass At MASS MoCA

It’s safe to say it’s been a big summer for our friends at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA. They opened a new building of gallery space in May, hosted the Solid Sound festival in June and numerous other live events throughout the summer, broke attendance records, and presented groundbreaking and globally recognized contemporary art.

Never one to rest on their laurels, MASS MoCA will present the 7th Annual FreshGrass Festival this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Sept 15-17.

FreshGrass is a family-friendly festival, brimming with bright talent on four stages, and also in MASS MoCA’s galleries, brick-lined courtyards, and grassy field. The festival is produced in partnership by MASS MoCA, the FreshGrass Foundation, and No Depression.

This year’s festival features Brandi Carlile, Railroad Earth, The Del McCoury Band, The Wood Brothers, Del and Dog, The Suitecase Junket, Crooked Still, and many more artists – along with awards, workshops, tributes, FreshScores, and more!

Here to tell us all about it are Joe Thompson, Director of MASS MoCA and Jodi Joseph, the museum’s Director of Communications.

Joe talks to people on the radio for a living. In addition to countless impressive human "gets" - he has talked to a lot of Muppets. Joe grew up in Philadelphia, has been on the area airwaves for more than 25 years and currently lives in Washington County, NY with his wife, Kelly, and their dog, Brady. And yes, he reads every single book.
