With Iowa Pacific stepping down as the operator of the Saratoga & North Creek Railway, local officials are discussing the future of the tracks.

Following a meeting Friday morning of the Warren County Public Works committee, County Administrator Ryan Moore said officials are considering three options for the railway that ceased operations in May.

“One of which would be to sell it, one of which would be to continue to find an outside operator – which has been the model that the county has been using for the last several years, and a third option would be to get out of the railroad business altogether,” said Moore.

The Saratoga & North Creek Railway operates under a contract with Warren County, the Saratoga County Town of Corinth, and Iowa Pacific Holdings.
