New York state Senator John Bonacic says he will not seek re-election.
In a statement, Republican John Bonacic of the 42nd district says the 20 years he has spent in the Senate have been rewarding both personally and professionally, but 20 years is enough. Bonacic, who is 75, says he looks forward to spending quality time with his family. Bonacic’s career in public service included serving as chairman of the Orange County Legislature and as an Assemblyman. Also this week, Republican Senators Kathy Marchione and John DeFrancisco announced they, too, would not seek re-election.
