NEW YORK – Metro-North Railroad service is back to normal this morning though officials say minimal scattered delays are possible as the restoration of track damaged by the July 18 Bronx derailment of a CSX freight train is nearing completion.
Over the weekend, Metro-North crews made more progress in rebuilding 1,500 feet of damaged track. Officials said most of the major work is done with the remaining track work, testing and cleanup underway.
The railroad expected to have the second track back in service following the morning peak service which will provide full operating capacity on the Hudson Line for the first time since the derailment.
