WAMC's Dr. Alan Chartock discusses the murder trial of Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer charged in the death of George Floyd last year. Dr. Chartock also comments on a New York Times report that 64 people have died at the hands of U.S. police officers since the start of the trial last month. Dr. Chartock also comments on reports that a majority of adults in the U.S. have received at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Also in the headlines: a doctor for Alexei Navalny says the Russian opposition leader could be on the verge of death in prison.

Dr. Alan Chartock is professor emeritus at the University at Albany. He hosts the weekly Capitol Connection series, heard on public radio stations around New York. The program, for almost 12 years, highlighted interviews with Governor Mario Cuomo and now continues with conversations with state political leaders. Dr. Chartock also appears each week on The Media Project and The Roundtable and offers commentary on Morning Edition, weekdays at 7:40 a.m.
