The city of Oneonta says so far, testing shows community spread of COVID-19 from the local SUNY campus has been averted.

Rapid testing was set up in the city after the campus was forced to shut down for the semester with hundreds of coronavirus cases. The city says during the first two days of community testing, 254 people were tested with three positives – two of whom were SUNY students.

Mayor Gary Herzig says the outbreak was caught in time to prevent spread beyond the student population.
