Police are investigating after a child was killed in a drive-by shooting in Troy, New York Sunday night.
City police say they were called to Old 6th Avenue around 11:40 p.m. and found 11-year-old Ayshawn Davis with a gunshot wound to his head. Davis, a student in the Lansingburgh Central School District, was taken to Albany Medical Center, where he died. Police say Davis was standing outside with a group of people when a car sped by, with gunfire coming from the vehicle. No arrests have been made.
In a statement, Troy Mayor Patrick Madden called the shooting "unacceptable," and says the city will do everything in its power to bring those responsible to justice, adding: "We urge anyone with information on this tragic incident to contact the Troy Police Department. Confronting gun violence requires the support and assistance of the entire community."
