Marcia White, the former president of Saratoga Performing Arts Center, has been named the interim president of the College of St. Rose.

The college announced the appointment Wednesday. White will lead the private college in Albany while it looks for a replacement for the outgoing Carolyn Stefanco, who is leaving in June.

The college says the national search will take 12 to 18 months. White, a St. Rose graduate, ran SPAC from 2005 to 2016.

St. Rose has about 4,000 graduates and undergraduates. Stefanco’s tenure has been rocky, including a budget shortfall, staff cutbacks and the resignations of several trustees in 2017.

Stefanco says she plans to write and consult about women’s leadership in higher education after she steps down.
