Facing continued questions over the response to a 911 call that reportedly came from the house of the mayor of Cohoes over the weekend, city hall says Monday the investigation will be handed over to New York State Police. The Times Union reported Sunday that city police responded to a call made by Mayor Shawn Morse’s wife Friday —   a day before the mayor appeared in public with a scratch on his face. No arrests have been made. Without citing specifics, Morse disputed the newspaper’s account and said his family had been going through a tough time. The first-term Democrat currently serves by default as the city’s public safety commissioner, overseeing the city police department. The statement attributed to the assistant police chief said Mayor Morse supports transferring the case to the state police to maintain transparency and integrity.
