A teachers' strike in Burlington, Vermont, is over after four days.

The Burlington School Board says it reached a tentative contract agreement with the Burlington Education Association after mediation Tuesday. The agreement needs to be ratified by both sides.

Classes and programs are set to resume Wednesday.

Board Chair Mark Porter says the school district has great respect for the teachers. He says he's glad to "get back to what matters most," educating the students.

Technical school teacher Bob Church tells the Burlington Free Press there's a shared commitment to serve the children.

Terms of the agreement haven't been disclosed.

The teachers had said the issue was scheduling time for them to prepare outside the classroom and to work one on one with students. The school board had said teachers made unexpected demands at the last minute.
