WAMC's Ian Pickus gets the July music picks from Nippertown's Greg Haymes.

1. Dust Bowl Faeries, "Hudson River Shanty," from their new self-titled debut album, playing at Skidmore College's Tang Museum in Saratoga at 7 tonight.

2. Joe Krown, "13th Ward Boogie" from his 2012 album Exposed, playing with his trio at the Parish Public House in Albany on Saturday night.

3. The David Grisman Bluegrass Experience, "Dawgy Mountain Breakdown" from their 2006 album DGBX, playing at the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival at Walsh Farm in Oak Hill on July 15.

4. Joe Ely, "The Highway Is My Home" from his 2011 album Satisfied at Last, playing at the Hangar on the Hudson in Troy on July 22.

5. Dog on Fleas, "Tain't No Sin" from their 2003 album Cranberry Sauce Flotilla, playing at Barker Park in Troy on July 28.

A lifelong resident of the Capital Region, Ian joined WAMC in late 2008 and became news director in 2013.
