The Albany Police Department has placed a veteran patrol officer on administrative duty while it investigates an incident downtown last week between him and a street performer on North Pearl Street in which the officer cited a nonexistent law and tried to grab the cellphone of a person recording the exchange. The officer, Glenn Szelest, “potentially acted inappropriately,” the department said in a statement.
