Amtrak Service West Of Albany To Be Restored

wikipedia commons

Amtrak service west of Albany, New York is almost back to normal after being interrupted by a massive freight train derailment last week.

CSX railroad crews and contractors worked around the clock to clear wreckage and replace damaged tracks after the derailment Thursday morning near Fonda, 35 miles west of Albany.

Amtrak service was disrupted by the accident, with several trains canceled and others operating with alternate transportation between Albany and Buffalo.

Amtrak says it's working to restore full service by Tuesday. On Monday, the Lake Shore Limited, Maple Leaf and Empire Service trains 281 and 284 will operate through the affected area, subject to delays.

Empire Service trains 280 and 283 will have chartered buses taking passengers between Albany and Syracuse.
