Holyoke, MA – Voters in Holyoke have elected one of the youngest mayors in Massachusetts history. WAMC's Paul Tuthill reports...

Running on a platform of energy and new ideas, 22-year-old Alex Morse, a recent graduate of Brown University, defeated veteran politician and incumbent Mayor Elaine Pluta...

"It feels great," said Morse. "And I am sure it will settle in in the morning. We accomplished something really huge tonight. This victory is not about me - it's not about Alex Morse, it's not about Elaine Pluta - it's about the future of the city of Holyoke."

Morse pledged to be Holyoke's chief marketing officer to bring businesses and jobs to the struggling old mill city. Elsewhere, David Narkowicz was elected the new mayor of Northampton, and Greg Neffinger won the mayor's race in West Springfield.

Incumbent mayors breezed to reelection in Springfield, Chicopee, Agawam and Easthampton.
