Montpelier, VT – The Vermont Senate on Thursday gave preliminary approval to a bill that would require the owners of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant to ensure there's enough money to shut down and clean up the plant whenever that occurs. Lawmakers are concerned that decommissioning funds are at risk as Entergy Nuclear considers selling the plant to a spin-off company. WAMC's North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley has more.
